about me

ok, so i am louise doherty, and this is my blog.

brief history:

1986, i descend unto planet earth.

5 years and many episodes of teenage mutant hero turtles later, i proclaim that april o’neill is my idol and i’m going to be a journalist.

writing, public speaking and debating competitions ensued, plus a bit of work ex at a local paper to confirm that journalism was the only possible career path for me. racked up a selection of a grades at school/college before deciding to persue broadcast journalism at uni.

3 years and well in excess of 15,000 words (and £15,000) later, i graduate, a fully fledged, bjtc qualified journo. spend 6 miserable months job hunting 24/7 and waitressing to survive, only to realise that a degree and 4 months unpaid work ex does not guarantee media employment.

took a job in pr to keep the bank charges at bay and realise i’m actually quite good at it. get interviewed on bbc news and gmtv, interrogated on bbc radio 5 live on a regular basis and quoted on the front page of the daily mail and daily express (three times), and begin to wonder… if a fresh faced 22 year old can get this much exposure through legitimate pr strategy, what would happen if i change my target and broaden my tactics?

recentlyviewed was conceived and here i am.
